Annual Awards for Diabetes Research at the ADDM
The Annual Dutch Diabetes Meeting (ADDM) inspires and encourages innovation and scientific achievement in diabetes research. An element of the program is the presentation of two scientific awards: the Dr. F. Gerritzen Award and the Prof. dr. J. Terpstra Young Investigator Award. These awards recognize researchers who make significant contributions to scientific knowledge and innovation in the field of diabetes mellitus.
Dr. F. Gerritzen Award
The Dr. F. Gerritzen Award is presented annually to a recently graduated PhD researcher who has distinguished themselves through outstanding clinical research in the field of diabetes mellitus. The prize is a bronze token, the dr. F. Gerritzen-badge, a certificate and a €5.000,- cheque for the winner and €500,- for the other 2 nominees. In an award session during the Annual Dutch Diabetes Research Meeting, the 3 most highly ranked theses will be presented by the nominees.
Prof. dr. J. Terpstra Young Investigator Award
With this award, we aim to inspire young scientists involved in any aspect of diabetes research. The award is granted to the most promising and innovative research proposal related to diabetes. These researchers are encouraged to come up with brilliant, high-quality research proposals. The awarded proposal has to be innovative, should comprise a clear hypothesis and deliver results relevant to -and applicable in- the field of diabetes mellitus. A budget encompassing the main issues should also be part of the proposal.
The winner will receive a research grant of €10,000, which must be used exclusively to support the research project described in the submitted proposal. In addition, the winner receives a token of remembrance. During the ADDM, the awardee is invited to give a presentation of the winning research proposal.
